How do I become an Instructor with ICTC?

What are the requirements to become an Instructor?

Here are the requirements for Academic Staff.

Applicants must possess:

  • A University Degree in the respective field from an accredited university or equivalent And Five (5) years relevant industry/field experience.
  • Teaching experience is NOT a requirement but considered an asset
  • Teachers registration Number
  • Computer Literate
  • Police Certificate of Character
  • A teaching certificate / Diploma in education will be an asset.
  • Familiarity with the respective subject syllabus
  • Use of technology in the classroom will be desirable
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Two passport size photos
  • Bilingual would be an asset.

Additionally for Creative teaching positions (Example photoshop or web design etc.)

However please note that our focus at ICTC is training learner to be able to apply practical skills to real-world problems. So whatever Topic you decide to teach, make sure that you can demonstrate practical skills or use real-life scenarios to demonstrate knowledge

I've never taught before is that an issue?

No experience teaching? That's not an issue! We're here to help. You are the subject matter expert! Let us help you make your vision a reality. Our Instructor Support Team is here for you 24/7 to help you through your course creation needs. Join our Instructor club, and resource center to help you through the process. This Facebook group is always on, always there, and always helpful. At ICTC traditional teaching practices are not the Norm. We want you to teach the way you wanted to be taught. We encourage technology in the classroom and interative lessons.

Do I need to be assessed as a teacher from the Ministry of Education?

No! While you are not required to be assesed as a teacher it will be considered an asset, however you will be required to be registered as a teacher with the Ministry of Education. I am a non-national can I apply to become an instructor?

Absolutely! You must provide:

  • Valid proof of identification in the form of a National Identification Card, Driver's Permit, or passport.
  • A Birth Certificate - with affidavit if necessary.
  • Teacher's Registration Certificate.
  • Two testimonials written within the previous six months that are not from teachers in the service of the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.
  • Marriage Certificate if the applicant is a married woman.
  • Certificates attesting to your academic and professional qualifications. In cases where statements from the Examination Section of the Ministry of Education are to be used instead of certificates/diplomas, the original statements are required.
Additionally if English is not your native language you will be required to provide evidence that you are capable of expressing , understanding and communicating the english language effectively. You can prove this by submitting your Test of English as a Foreign Language® (TOEFL) or PTE-A: Pearson Test of English Academic certificates.

Yes! If you already have your own students and brand and require a safe, clean and convienent place to offer your classes then you can use our facilities as your own. Simply book a room we will setup everything for you and your students, all you have to do is show up and do what you do best Teach!.
